Today's home tour, is as sweet and as stylish as it's owner. Sarah Robins and I have been long time friends. We not only went to high school together, but also both graduated from Auburn University. Me with an Interior Design degree of course, and SR with a Graphic Design degree. After spending time doing corporate designs and marketing, Sarah Robins decided that she wanted to focus more on freelance designs and illustrating. And let me tell you, she is an incredible illustrator! Definitely check out her website, Sarah Robins Designs, and look through her beautiful collection. I love the vintage-y, nostalgic-yet-modern vibe that she creates. After seeing her work, it's no surprise that her home is equally as gorgeous.
The Powell's renovated their Blossomwood neighborhood home a couple of years ago. Some of the updates were modernizing the kitchen and two bathrooms, and giving the paint and finishes a refresh. They worked with Mark Brubaker, a local design and interiors company, to plan the design renovations, oversee the construction, and help with initial fixture and finish selections.
When it comes to her style, SR knows the feel and look that she is trying to accomplish, but because she has a passion for so many different styles she needed reassurance that her choices were not crazy and would look good together. And as you can see, her choices came together SO well. The mix of the old and the new is charming and adds so much character to her home.
The house is layered really well between the mix of finishes, colors, and materials used. The home is kept mostly neutral to allow the artwork to be the focal point.
